Blog

Hydd includes different options to present your blog posts with different blog layouts. There is shortcode options allow you to customize the Posts. The following lists will cover options in blog posts.

Creating Blog Posts

Hydd includes several blog post types, images, image slideshows, video and more. Using these option you can create the blog post. See below for information on how to create blog posts.

  • Navigate to Posts in your Wordpres admin sidebar.
  • Click on the Add New option to make a new post.
  • Create a Title and insert your post content in the editing field.
  • If you want to Add Categories to assign it to the post, click on Add New Categories below to the Categories Tab.
  • Select the Category name which is listed in Categories tab in right side.
  • If you want to Add Tags, type the name of the tag in the field, separate multiple tags with commas.
  • To upload Feature Image for the Post, click the Set Featured Image option, select an image and click Set Featured Image button.
  • For a video post, select either Youtube or Vimeo from dropdown box.

Post Options

  • To customize the posts, there are various options in Post Options. Scroll down to see the Page Options tab.
  • In General options, you can choose the layout for the Posts such as Default, Fullwidth, Boxed and Choose column for the Posts such as 2 Column, 3 Column, 4 Column.
  • Video Embed Code – Enter video embed code. Videos will show on top of post and also in grid layout only for Video Post Format.
  • Audio Embed Code – Enter audio embed code. Audios will show on top of post and also in grid layout only for Audio Post Format.
  • External Link Title – External Link Title will be displayed in Link Post Format with URL.
  • External Link URL – External Link URL will be displayed in Link Post Format.
  • Gallery Images – Choose to show images as slider or carousel only for Gallery Post Format.
  • Show Social Sharing – Choose to show or hide the social sharing.
  • Show Author Info – Choose to show or hide the author info.
  • Show Comments – Choose to show or hide comments.
  • Show Related Posts – Choose to show or hide related posts.
  • Show Previous/Next Pagination – Choose to show or hide post pagination.

Blog Single Post

The Blog Single post includes various options, you can customize the options by just enable/disable. The following list shows the Blog Single Post options.

  • Single Post Layout – This option allows you to select the layout for Blog Single Post.
  • Show Social Sharing – You can enable/disable the social sharing option for Blog Single Post.
  • Show Author Info – You can display Author Info by enable/disable the Author Info option for Blog Single Post.
  • Show Comments – You can enable/disable the Comments option for Blog Single Post.
  • You can enable/disable the Related Post Slider and Blog Gallery Slider.
  • Exclude Categories – Enter the slugs of a categories (comma seperated) to exclude. Example: category-1, category-2.

Related Post Slider

  • You can Enable/Disable the Related Post Slider from Blog Single Post options.
  • Items to Display – Enter the number of items to display.
  • Enable Auto Play – You can enable/disable the autoplay option for Related Post Slider.
  • Timeout Duration (in milliseconds) – Enter the timeout duration in Milliseconds.
  • Enable Infinite Loop – You can enable/disable the Loop option for Related Post Slider.
  • Margin ( Items Spacing ) – Enter the Margin for Item spacing.
  • Items To Display in Tablet – Enter the number of items to display in Tablet.
  • Items To Display in Mobile Landscape – Enter the number of items to display in Mobile Landscape.
  • Items To Display in Mobile Portrait – Enter the number of items to display in Mobile Portrait.
  • Enable Pagination – You can enable/disable the Pagination option for Related Post Slider.
  • Enable Navigation – You can enable/disable the Navigation option for Related Post Slider.

Show Post Navigation – Choose to show or hide Post Navigation option.

Blog Gallery Slider

  • You have the option to set the Gallery Slider as Carousel Globally. So you can enable/disable the global option.
  • Items to Display – Enter the number of items to display.
  • Items to Scrollby – Enter the number of items to scrollby.
  • Enable Auto Play – You can enable/disable the autoplay option for Related Post Slider.
  • Timeout Duration (in milliseconds) – Enter the timeout duration in Milliseconds.
  • Enable Infinite Loop – You can enable/disable the Loop option for Related Post Slider.
  • Margin ( Items Spacing ) – Enter the Margin for Item spacing.
  • Items To Display in Tablet – Enter the number of items to display in Tablet.

Blog Shortcodes

The Blog Shortcode can be inserted from the Visual Composer Shortcode options. Using the blog shortcode allows you to have multiple blog pages, each with a different set of categories, layouts and other blog settings.

  • Navigate to Pages, click Add New or edit an existing page.
  • Click Backend Editor button after the Page title.page.
  • You see the Visual Composer tab below that button
  • Click on Plus Icon (+) in that tab.
  • The Visual Composer Shortcode window will open and Navigate to Theme Addons.
  • Click on Blog Options in Theme Addons tab, The Blog Settings Shortcodes window will open.
  • The Blog Settings window will shows the General Blog Settings and Its layout.
  • Now you can select all the different options for the blog shortcode.

Latest Posts

The Latest Post Shortcode can be inserted from the Visual Composer Shortcode options. Using the blog shortcode allows you to have multiple blog pages, each with a different set of categories, layouts and other blog settings.

  • Navigate to Pages, click Add New or edit an existing page.
  • Click Backend Editor button after the Page title.
  • You see the Visual Composer tab below that button
  • Click on Plus Icon (+) in that tab.
  • The Visual Composer Shortcode window will open and Navigate to Theme Addons.
  • Click on Latest Post Options in Theme Addons tab, The Latest Post Settings Shortcodes window will open.
  • The Latest Post Shortcodes window will shows the settings such as Number of Posts, Categories, Blog Styles(columns).
  • Customize the different options for Latest Posts and save the changes.

Blog Posts Formats

The Post format is used to customize the presentation of a post. When editing a blog post, click on “Screen Options” in the top right corner of your admin to ensure the “Format” box is checked. Once checked, you will see the Format box on the right side that allows you to choose the specific format for the post.

  • The Post Formats feature provides a standardized list of formats that are available to all themes that support the feature and the Post Formats are listed below.
  • Standard – A Standard post will contain a standard shortcodes.
  • Aside – An aside is going to be a short blog post, typically without a title.
  • Gallery – A gallery of images contain a gallery shortcode and will have image attachments.
  • Link – A link to another site. This may wish to use the first tag in the post content as the external link for that post.
  • Image – A single image. The first tag in the post could be considered the image. Alternatively, if the post consists only of a URL, that will be the image URL and the title of the post (post_title) will be the title attribute for the image.
  • Quote – Post options Quote Text, Quote Author name then write your Quote text and Quote author name. Update your Post When you are finished.
  • Video – You can choose Video Format, then past your Vimeo or Youtube embed code. Update your Post after you finished.
  • Audio – Now you need to add an audio file to your post, the audio file needs to be inserted before any content. Publish or Update your post after added.
